Population and Licensed Houses

There is probably no portion of the United Kingdom, possibly no district in any country in the world, where the number of houses licensed for the sale of intoxicating drinks is so great in proportion to the population, as the county of Donegal, in the north-west of Ireland. The following figures have been published relating to the towns and villages in that county:-
