A History of Moville and its neighbourhood
This book was drawn from a series of articles originally written for the Londonderry Sentinel about 1930. It describes the origins of Moville, and explains what life was like in the nineteenth century. It contains many anecdotes and insights into the way of life in bygone Inishowen.
A Handbook for Travellers in Ireland 1854
This article describes the road from Carrowkeel (now Quigley's Point) through Moville to Inishowen Head and on to Culdaff. It is taken from the Handbook written in 1854, which describes, for the discerning traveller, roads all over Ireland.
Notes of a Journey in the north of Ireland in the summer of1827
Although this extract does not refer specifically to Moville, it gives a good description of life in pre-famine Ireland, and will give readers a sense of the hardships and tribulations endured by Inishowen families.
